There is a ton of information on the Internet concerning how to help an alcoholic. While many of the solutions are time tested and still work to this day, like Alcoholics Anonymous for example, new methods of addiction treatment are being explored and many are proving to be very effective.

I believe that a big part of finding help for alcoholics is to try and understand how they think. For me, how I was thinking lead to why I was drinking. Many of the people I know, who have been addicted in the past, have said the same thing.

As a former addict, to just about everything I could get my hands on including alcohol, marijuana and food, I believe that one of the first places anyone should look, when it comes to how to help alcoholics, is their connection with God or, as it’s put in Alcoholics Anonymous, their Higher Power. In most cases you will probably find that there is a deep seeded resentment or anger towards their understanding of God.

Speaking from experience a big part of the reason I turned to drugs and alcohol was a search for enlightenment or shall I say a connection to God. I can remember dropping acid and smoking pot because I believed that it gave me a heightened awareness or spiritual connection… an understanding, if you will. The voices I heard in my head, when I smoked pot, I believed to be God. What I was really feeding was my ego. I have found that many people falsely identify their ego as God. The anger is not usually with God because they don’t really understand who God is. As an alcoholic they are not at peace and the center of our Being is Peace, it is God, so the anger is misdirected. There are typically a lot of forgiveness issues with others as in resentment and grudges as well.

In the case of alcohol abuse, my objective was escape, in most cases. To learn how to help an alcoholic, knowing what they are thinking can better assist you in understanding how to find the right help and who is best suited to get involved in the healing process. Is it a doctor who needs to be involved, a minister, a holistic healer? The WHY is the case of those who are addicted, I believe, is very important to finding the correct path for recovery.

I also believe their is a propensity toward addiction from a physical perspective. It could very well be that people have an addictive “personality” simply because their body is not getting a certain nutritional element that it needs, thus the cravings. To be completely honest I used to think that this type of thinking was crazy. I came from the school of thought that addiction was simply a conditional, behavioral or spiritual problem. Knowing what I know now, I believe there are two sides to the coin.

The reason I believe this is the product called PuriPhyte, which I have mentioned, and even promote, through this blog. Granted, my addiction to alcohol and marijuana has long since passed, but the addictive tendencies, until recently, were still there. Interestingly enough, I have found that at the root of that addictive tendency was a craving for sugar, which many addicts, including the founder of PuriPhyte Mr. Rob Lunny, have also testified to.

While the substance addictions have since passed, the addiction to food has been a constant in my life until recently. Most of my struggles with food addiction stemmed from cravings for carbohydrates as well as the feeling that I needed to eat late into the evening. That’s the time when the cravings were usually the worst.

Since I started taking PuriPhyte those cravings have all but disappeared and I expect that they will fully disappear with the continued use of PuriPhyte. I am a firm believer that, while PuriPhyte is being marketed as a recovery product from drugs and alcohol, that its’ potential to assist in the recovery of any addiction is highly probable.

In closing, if you really want to help an alcoholic get clean and sober, or help anyone who is addicted find complete restoration, then a spiritual awakening combined with a product like PuriPhyte could very well be the answer to finding freedom much faster than with traditional methods.

I believe that complete and total recovery from addiction is possible. Creating an identity as an alcoholic or an addict is no longer necessary… as the Bible states “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!” Thank you for taking the time to read how to help an alcoholic.
